archiTRONIC was founded by Ravi Jhupsee in 1994, on the brink of the beginning of a new democracy in South Africa. The practice aims to design and create appropriate built responses to the economic, social, climatic and political contexts unique to Southern Africa, through research, design principles and technical excellence. We are solely owned, managed and staffed by previously disadvantaged individuals.

Our belief is that architecture should be functional and useful to the user but also aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. The studio has completed over 100 projects ranging from low-budget small scale projects to large high-budget urban development masterplans. The archiTRONIC studio has designed and produced a wide range of architectural typologies such as commercial and residential projects (family houses, townhouses, multi-family residential dwellings), student accommodation, community centres, hospitals, educational and civic institutions, storage facilities, recreational facilities, office buildings, retail and entertainment spaces, restaurants and space planning, as well as integrating these quality designs with a knowledge of construction processes and construction detailing.
